Raised in the suburbs of Milwaukee on a steady diet of bratwurst, bowling alleys and skateboarding, Jay Vollmar relocated to Denver to pursue his lifelong interest: making stuff. In a basement bedroom of a rented house, he began designing and printing posters for Denver’s local rock clubs and bands. A dozen or so years and hundreds of projects later, his work can be seen not only glued to walls in clubs and stapled to telephone poles, but framed in fancy-pants galleries and published in design magazines and books.
